This agility ladder was designed with the needs of durability and adaptability in mind. Using a mid-durometer polyethylene allows the ladder struts to bend freely and frequently without showing signs of wear and tear while also keeping its shape no matter what position the struts are in. HurdLadder is adaptable for various types and intensity of training as well as various ages and levels of experience.

When the STEM Supplies business unit was announced, we were given a timeframe of 2 months to design, develop, and bring to production a series of products that would launch with the new business unit. The LearnLauncher Catapult is one of those products that encapsulates the very idea of STEM education: Merging the lessons of basic and fundamental physics with fun and collaborative experiments.
By providing a series of variables that students can engage with in a safe and structured system, teachers allow students to draw their own conclusions and learn in a way that creates a deep understanding and connections between the lesson and real life applications. .

It has been shown through ample research and experimentation that keeping students active while in the classroom increases engagement and information retention. Utilizing this research with our own market research we designed and introduced a series of adjustable standing classroom desks.
The SmartStudy Adjustable Standing Desks were designed to be adaptable for various age groups and heights with easy-to-use and durable mechanisms and materials. Achieving the look and feel of classroom desks while also using a tip-and-roll system for the ease of portability were very important considerations during the initial conceptualization phase.

The GripTurn Speedrope serves the simple, but much needed and desired, purpose of providing a simple and effective training fitness rope that will stay in your hand comfortably as you perspire during training. This is achieved by using a strong and textured polypropylene body with an integrated TPR (thermoplastic rubber) co-molded grip. While designing the GripTurn Speedrope handles, it was important to retain the Gopher Performance brand identity and to guarantee the longevity of the TPR grip through the use of proper manufacturing processes.

Two of the biggest challenges schools and gyms face are storage space and durable products that withstand extensive use. The Contra Duel Direction Drag Sled solves both of these problems utilizing the unique ability to collapse and stack without harming the strong powder coating and bent steel used in its construction. By also using the appropriate steel manufacturing methods, the product is strong enough to allow the harness carbineers to slide around the provided guide for quick and easy transition in dragging direction. Finally, the glossy powder coating allows the drag sled to be used on a variety of surfaces without exposing the steel to the elements and causing degradation of the material.

The goal for this project was to develop a pair of salt and pepper shakers that were both marketable and reflected the history of the spices. By researching the differences and similarities in the forms, materials, and functionality of current popular shakers, glassware, and dinning tables, I determined that my final product would be natural, ergonomic, and organic.
The salt shaker is African mahogany with a hickory inlay while the pepper shaker is cherry with a black walnut inlay. Both were made using a simple subtractive process to achieve a natural and ergonomic look and feel.
Allsteel’s brief given to our studio was to design an office furniture system that allowed for an easy transition between individual and collaborative work while considering the integration of technology. I used extensive market and consumer research to study current technology trends and the flow of an office setting.
Timeless technologies including power outlets, USBs, and HDMIs were necessary for integration with office furniture to be long lasting. It is also necessary to consider technology integration with collaborative work in this technology driven time.
This system makes use of a mobile surface with outlet ports on the rear side to allow the quick rearrangement of a work space to accommodate individual, and collaborative work environments. Open quarter circle and accompanying padded seat invites collaborative discussions while the other walled quarter circle provides a private and removed work area.
My studio was asked by Assa Abloy to research materials and manufacturing processes to create a zero-energy door and update a current development process for in-house custom designing to drastically shorten the time frame of each project. I focused primarily on the research of materials and their implementation, during which I managed to help create a door that very nearly allowed zero transfer of energy and performed far beyond Assa Abloy’s expectations. Assa Abloy is now continuing the zero-energy system professionally with intentions of taking the product to market. However, due to a confidentiality contract I can only provide further details to non-competitors verbally over the phone, or visibly in person only.
I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to travel and fill my life with unique experiences. The most important and memorable of these experiences have bolstered my love and dedication to the outdoors. I use these experiences and my passion for user-focused design to inspire and guide my process. I am currently a Senior CAD Designer working for Gopher Sport designing STEM, physical education, and physical fitness products to help bring education, healthy, and active life-styles to schools across the country.
